Dear NIGP Utah Chapter Members,
I consider it a great privilege to work with each of you this coming year as the NIGP Utah Chapter President. I understand the importance of your time and commitment to your jobs and this profession and I hope that NIGP can enhance the value you find in your professional endeavors. The Board is looking forward to understanding your needs and helping you achieve your goals. Please know that each of us has an “open door policy” and would love to hear your feedback anytime.
The Mission Statement of the Utah Chapter of NIGP is to “benefit both its members’ personal growth and their employers by including best practices of the profession and increasing the members’ value to their respective organizations through education, networking and extended services and activities.” With the Mission Statement in mind, I would like to the chapter to focus on the following objectives in the coming year:
Engagement- The greatest benefits that can be garnered through the membership in the chapter will come as members become fully engaged in all aspects of the chapter. I would encourage each of you to determine how best to become engaged in the chapter this coming year. This could include volunteering to be on a committee, actively participating in chapter meetings or reaching out and meeting new colleagues.
Professional Development- Key to the chapter’s mission is the ability to add value to each individual professionally. The Board commits to provide educational opportunities that expand upon existing knowledge that members can then take back to their respective work places and add value to their organizations. If there are areas of expertise you feel the chapter would benefit from additional education, please reach out to a Board member.
Increase Membership- Learning from one another is pivotal to professional development, particularly in our industry as many of us buy similar goods and services. There are many of our colleagues who are not currently participating in the chapter which means the rest of us are missing out on their ideas and expertise. I would encourage you to reach out to those within your organization and network that may not be members of our chapter.
My hope is that 2018 will be a year for each of us to grow professionally and as a chapter. I look forward to getting to know each of you better and hope that 2018 will be a successful year for each of you.
